The AIA Disaster Assistance Program Building Evaluator Training teaches volunteers to be proficient in California’s Office of Emergency Services SAP, the AIA’s preferred standard of training, and prepares individuals to become registered Safety Assessment Evaluators.

AIA Disaster Assistance Program utilizes volunteers and mutual aid resources to provide professional engineers, architects and certified building inspectors to assist local governments by doing post-disaster building evaluations. The training program for Building Evaluators is currently managed by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) with cooperation from professional organizations. CalOES will issue Disaster Service Worker (DSW) ID cards to all professionally licensed volunteers who have completed the training. Those who are not yet licensed will receive a certificate…
