Committee Meeting: Adaptation & Resilience Committee
Featuring: “Integrating Sustainability & Resilience in High-Performance Building & Infrastructure Design,” a talk with Sarah Wood (1 LU/HSW)
Join the Adaptation & Resilience Committee for their October meeting and hear from Sarah Wood, architect and Senior Sustainability Specialist at Jacobs, discussing how she incorporates sustainability & resilience into large-scale infrastructure projects. As climate impacts intensify and communities pursue long-term environmental, social, and economic well-being, the intersection of sustainability and resilience is essential to effective planning, design, and construction.
The session explores key sustainable design drivers and highlights construction jobsite practices that support a resilient, high-performing built environment. We will examine how regional public agencies—including the Port of Seattle, Sound Transit, and King County—are applying sustainability and resilience frameworks to guide infrastructure investments. Through large-scale, long-range program and project examples, Sarah will illustrate how these frameworks are being embedded into capital programs to deliver more adaptable, durable, and future ready assets.
The Adaptation & Resilience Committee meets the first Thursday of every month at 12pm. AIA Seattle members, allied members, and sponsors are encouraged to join, as well as professionals in the design community.
