About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Job Captain, with 3-10 years of experience, to join our Tacoma studio. This role is ideal for an emerging professional with strong technical skills who is ready to take ownership of construction document production and project coordination. Working closely with Project Architects and project managers, the Job Captain plays a critical role in translating design intent into clear, coordinated, and buildable documentation.

Position Responsibilities
The Job Captain will serve as a primary driver of technical production, working across project phases to ensure documentation is accurate, coordinated, and aligned with design intent.

  • Lead the preparation and coordination of construction documents across project phases, from design development through permit and construction sets.
  • Lead management of Revit model.
  • Coordinate drawing packages for internal quality control reviews, ensuring consistency and completeness.
  • Apply knowledge of construction materials, assemblies, and detailing to produce clear and buildable documentation.
  • Coordinate with consultants and engineers to integrate discipline drawings and resolve conflicts.
  • Support the project team through permitting and jurisdictional review processes.
  • Assist with construction administration tasks, including submittal review, RFI responses, and tracking open items.
  • Maintain organized project files and uphold firm standards for documentation and drawing coordination.
  • Communicate proactively with project architects, project managers, and team members on document status and outstanding issues.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support junior staff as needed.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Professional degree in Architecture.
  • 3-10 years of professional experience in an architectural office.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or significantly contributing to construction document production.
  • Proficiency with Revit & visualization software; experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.Working knowledge of building codes, construction systems, and detailing.
  • Experience with public sector projects preferred.
  • Architectural licensure preferred; active pursuit of licensure (ARE) is encouraged and supported.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.
