Amarpreet Sethi is a Principal and Energy & Sustainability leader at tk1sc. Her knowledge of climate-responsive design, daylighting, HVAC systems enable her to assist in sustainability. Amarpreet has worked in multiple market sectors to assist in meeting goals of decarbonization and Net Zero. Whitney is an East Coast native who’s called the West Coast home for the last 10 years and Washington state the last 5. Currently, Whitney volunteers as one of the co-chair’s of AIA Seattle’s Diversity Roundtable where she is working to promote the committee locally and at a national level. Whitney is finishing a 3 year term as a member of the Membership Steering Committee. Whitney has been working at GGLO within their affordable housing group for the last year and a half. In and outside of work she seeks to make connections to encourage and promote diversity and equity in architecture and the built environment. Read more

Carrie has eighteen years of experience in custom residential architecture in the Puget Sound region. She received her bachelor’s degree from University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee in 2002 and graduate degree from University of Washington in 2006. She has been a passionate advocate for sustainability as an active member of the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild and International Living Future Institute. Carrie has presented at the Northwest Green Building Slam & Summit as well as the Northwest Green Home Tour. Born and raised in rural West Virginia, Michael relocated to the Northwest in 1999. He has over 20 years of experience in architecture and planning. He has been involved in a variety of projects including public, retail/mixed-use, education, residential, and civic projects. Michael earned a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania, with a planning focus, augmenting a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Kentucky. Additionally, Michael has served on the City of Marysville City Council since 2010, providing a unique perspective on the impacts of public policy on the built environment. Read more

Charlie was born and raised outside Portland, OR, and studied architecture at the University of Oregon. In 2017, he graduated a Bachelor of Architecture with a minor in Business Administration and Planning, Public Policy and Management. Following graduation, he moved to Seattle to start a job as an architectural designer with MG2. Charlie is a co-chair of the Young Architects Forum and is involved in the ARE Workshop Subcommittee. Although studying and AIA activities keep him busy outside of the office, he tries to find time to get outside as much as possible on a hike, snowshoe, or simply any outdoor patio around the city. Jay is a Senior Principal at MKA and the leader of the firm’s Cultural, Civic, and Education Specialist Groups. He moved to Seattle in 1976 to attend the University of Washington where he graduated from the College of Architecture in 1980 with his B. A. in Environment Design. Over the last 22 years at MKA, he has been responsible for projects in 11 countries and 25 states. A dynamic member of Rushing’s integrated design team, Haley specializes in high rise residential projects and coordination with Seattle City Light. Haley holds a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Seattle Pacific University, where she competed with the gymnastics team. With more than ten years of industry experience, her expertly-designed power distribution, emergency, lighting control, communication, and fire alarm systems support many of the recent and in-progress additions to the Seattle skyline with 30+ story residential towers Cirrus, Cielo, Tower 12 and 9th and Lenora among them. Kirsten Murray is an owner and principal of Olson Kundig, where she has practiced since 1989. In her work on urban design, adaptive re-use, cultural, mixed-use and residential projects, Kirsten is known for creating buildings and spaces that strengthen and enrich communities. In addition to her project leadership, Kirsten has pioneered many of the firm’s core cultural practices including Olson Kundig’s international internship program, integrated studio organization, community engagement programs, as well as co-directing [storefront], an experimental design space where the firm hosted a series of community-based projects. In 2016, Kirsten was elevated to the AIA College of Fellows, having served on the National AIA Trust Board in a number of capacities, including chair, trustee, treasurer and vice-chair. Pepe Valle is an exceptionally skilled technical architect with a flair for interpreting, organizing and coordinating project team assignments. With his rigorous attention to detail and facility with new technologies, Pepe has implemented several key process improvements. He provides guidance and leadership in preparing comprehensive design development documents, paying careful attention to schedules, budgets, quality control and sustainable building practices. He provides technical leadership and mentorship for the whole architecture and interior design team. Pepe has over 17 years’ experience in the industry and graduated with a BA in Architecture from ITESM in Monterrey, Mexico. He is a licensed architect in the US with a LEED AP and CSI CDT Certification. He is an AIA and CSI member. His inspiration comes from his daughter, Sam, and playing music. Elizabeth de Regt is an architect and urban designer specializing in master planning, with six years of experience designing a wide range of corporate office, mixed-use, higher education, and healthcare projects. Her passion lies at the intersection of architecture and urban design, and she seeks to create spaces that enhance sustainability at an urban scale. Elizabeth focuses on livability issues, with expertise in researching daylighting in the public realm as well as zoning issues that impact shared spaces. By facilitating livability in an urban context, she hopes to make cities more attractive, affordable, and sustainable for a diverse array of people. Having spent most of her childhood in the Seattle area, Elizabeth ventured out to explore other cities for her schooling. Burcin Moehring, FAIA, has dedicated her career to thoughtfully planning and designing science environments; and redefining standards, best practices and providing leadership that benefit the architecture profession. Throughout her 29 years of experience in project management, teaching lab planning and programming for educational and research facilities, and in leadership positions with AIA-CAE, SCUP (Society for College and University Planning) and I2SL (International Institute for Sustainable Labs), she has developed unique lab design solutions that address evolving teaching styles such as collaborative learning, interdisciplinary interaction, teaching and research integration, hands-on/discovery-based learning as well as the integration of the technology and technology and flexibility needed for today’s changing learning environments. I started my career at ZGF working as a project architect, urban designer and project manager on assorted projects in the Portland and Seattle offices. I was heavily involved in campus master plans, multifamily residential developments, and workplace design. My passion for seeing projects through construction developed early on.
When an opportunity arose to join GLY Construction’s VDC department, I jumped at the chance to work with teams to facilitate a more seamless relationship between the worlds of design and construction. My current role draws on my communication and technical design skills to bridge the gap between the design team and construction. I leverage BIM as a truly interactive platform to confirm examinations, reflect decisions made by the team, suggest more effective ways to execute in the field, minimize waste and efficiently schedule and communicate project development. Megan grew up appreciating spaces with stories to tell while learning about the growing need for solutions to anthropogenic environmental degradation. She was inspired to combine these passions when she began studying passive design principles. Megan continued on her built environments track while working on related aspects of human-ecosystem relationships, as when addressing the possibilities and consequences of King County’s sole-source rainwater harvesting systems permits. Since then, she has steadily worked to expand a network of leverage points that promote research and design practices regarding all things green. Read more

I’ve been with The Miller Hull Partnership since 2002 and was invited to be a Partner in 2016. My career has tended toward the management and practice side of architecture, and at Miller Hull, I lead our Delivery group which focuses on issues related to quality, technology, expectations for delivery, and improving the understanding of our architectural staff in each of those areas. I am also a leader in Miller Hull’s SERVE marketing group, a team which focuses on projects related to infrastructure, U.S. gateways and public safety. My recent projects have included border crossings, embassies and other civic/public works. Read more

Victoria has worked in the development industry in just about every facet of the industry; as owner, real estate developer, landscape architect and now contractor. For the last 4 years, Victoria has been building Sellen’s design-build portfolio. Recent projects include an office building on the Capitol campus in Olympia with ZGF & a 12 story office building in South Lake Union with Olson Kundig. Prior to Sellen, Victoria was a development manager for Vulcan for 10 years leading design & construction teams to create UW Medicine’s research facilities in South Lake Union. She also worked with Institute for Systems Biology, PATH and the Allen Institute for Brain Science on their new homes. Victoria’s laboratory knowledge niche was started when she worked in Immunex & Amgen’s capital projects groups. Victoria’s first career was as a landscape architect in Oregon and San Francisco, CA. She is a licensed landscape architect, accredited LEED AP, and DBIA member.

Jen Cho grew up in Happy Valley, Oregon, and moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington Architectural Studies program. After an inspiring study abroad quarter with the Rome Program, she graduated in 2007, ready to once again experience the euphoria of a full eight hours of sleep at night. The great recession failed to demolish her optimism, and she worked at Mithun on a variety of projects including student housing and a private school expansion. In 2016, she joined Encore Architects, and has since focused on multifamily housing. Jen enjoys participating on the AIA professional practice steering committee, as well as serving as an ACE Mentor, hoping to help high school students appreciate architectural design as well as remind them of the importance of sleep. Margaret grew up in Upstate New York and attended Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art and Planning in 2012. Margaret spent a summer abroad working with Kounkuey Design Initiative to conduct participatory design workshops outside of Nairobi, Kenya. She relocated to Seattle shortly after and worked on single family residential projects with babienko ARCHITECTS for two years, followed by the affordable housing and community-focused work she is currently doing as part of Schemata Workshop.
