Project Architect – Multifamily & Mixed-Use
Studio19 Architects is a growing, design-focused architecture firm located in Downtown Seattle. We specialize in multifamily and mixed-use housing, with additional experience in hospitality, commercial tenant improvements, custom residential, interior design, and master planning. Our work is grounded in thoughtful urban design, technical rigor, and a deep understanding of local permitting and regulatory processes.
We are seeking a Project Architect with 6+ years of professional experience who has strong technical expertise in multifamily and mixed-use projects. This role is ideal for someone who can take ownership of complex housing projects, coordinate building systems and consultants, navigate municipal review processes, and deliver well-coordinated construction documents from design through permitting and construction.
Responsibilities
Lead the technical development of multifamily and mixed-use projects, from design development through construction documents
Translate design intent into efficient, buildable housing systems, balancing unit layouts, life-safety requirements, and cost considerations
Prepare and coordinate permit and construction drawings using BIM and CAD software, ensuring accuracy and consistency with design intent
Develop detailed architectural assemblies typical of housing projects, including unit layouts, unitized details, and podium/wood-frame construction systems
Coordinate closely with consultants (structural, MEP, civil, landscape, energy, and accessibility) to ensure integrated and code-compliant solutions
Ensure conformance with Seattle IBC codes, zoning requirements, and the Seattle MUP process
Deliver complete, accurate, and well-coordinated project documentation on fast-paced, schedule-driven projects
Conduct code and product research specific to housing and mixed-use developments
Participate in construction administration, including review of submittals, RFIs, and field coordination
Skills & Competencies
Strong experience with multifamily and mixed-use building types
In-depth knowledge of Seattle IBC codes, zoning, and the Seattle MUP review process
Solid understanding of podium, wood-frame, and mixed-construction systems
Expertise in architectural detailing for housing projects, including unit plans, life-safety coordination, and building envelope systems
Advanced proficiency in Revit (modeling and documentation) and AutoCAD
Proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel)
Experience with SketchUp or other 3D modeling tools a plus
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with design teams
Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills
Education & Experience
B.Arch or M.Arch
6+ years of professional architectural experience, with a focus on multifamily and mixed-use projects
