The Role: Project Coordinator
b9 architects cultivates positive change through exceptional solutions.
b9 architects is seeking an experienced Project Coordinator to join our collaborative, housing focused studio. This role is ideal for a technically strong architect, or designer with 5+ years of experience in multifamily or urban housing who has developed deep expertise in documentation and code and is ready for more ownership, visibility, and access to design conversations and responsibilities.
If you are currently part of a large team where your work is narrowly defined, but you want broader responsibility, closer collaboration with the principal, and a clearer line of sight between entitlement strategy and built form, this position is designed for you.
The Ideal Candidate Has:
- A professional degree in Architecture or related field.
- Has a license or is on the path to licensure.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience, ideally in multifamily, townhouse, or urban infill housing.
- Strong experience assembling and coordinating permit drawing sets.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate plan review correction cycles.
- Working knowledge of the Seattle Building Code, International Building Code, and Washington State Energy Code.
- Familiarity with Seattle land use and entitlement processes (experience across multiple Puget Sound regional jurisdictions is a plus).
- Experience coordinating landscape, structural, civil, envelope, accessibility and MEP consultants.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage documentation schedules.
- Strong design portfolio.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in ArchiCAD, Revit, or similar BIM software (training available for ArchiCAD).
- Communication at all levels of the studio.
- Task management and prioritization.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include:
- Producing and coordinating building permit and construction drawing sets.
- Managing building permit submittals and tracking review timelines.
- Reviewing and responding to jurisdictional correction comments with a focus on corrections from the city of Seattle.
- Coordinating closely with Project Architects/Managers to integrate documentation with the evolving design process.
- Performing internal QA/QC reviews.
- Supporting entitlement strategy conversations with research and documentation including feasibility studies.
- Participating in consultant and select client meetings as needed.
