It’s time again for COTE’s annual Earth Day Sustainability Slam! Each year we put out a call for submissions on interesting case studies, ideas, and presentations about sustainable design. We then assemble a series of rapid-fire presentations from all of YOU to share with the design community. We want to provide a platform for individuals and firms to share what they are doing and to create a fun social mixer. What’s the difference between hot rolled and cold rolled steel? How does pickled and oiled steel compare to the raw mill finish? Seattle’s 2015 Energy Code & Its Impacts on High-Rise Construction w/ COTE
Seattle officially adopted the new 2015 Seattle Energy Code on Jan. 1, 2017 with additional requirements coming into effect at the beginning of 2018. These changes leave many in the design and construction communities questioning how this code will affect high-rise office and residential projects, especially those with increased glazing. Sellen Construction, PAE Engineers and MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions have analyzed these impacts through energy and cost modeling and have published the results in a recent white paper.
