The design team will guide a tour through the active construction site to discuss the design process, outcomes and highlight key considerations for building with mass timber at a residential scale.
Mass Timber Committee + Small Practice and Residential Committee (SPARC) + atelierjones
Project Description: The Kenmore House is a 2-story, 3,200 square foot, 5-bedroom, multi-generational home for a family 7, including 4 children and one grandparent. Inspired by atelierjones’s first foray into mass timber, CLTHouse, this home is constructed of cross laminated timber. The exposed wood of the CLT wraps as a tactile shell around the living spaces which subsequently wrap around a warm south and west facing courtyard. Throughout the house wood takes center stage, celebrated as a material that can be at once nostalgic and forward-thinking.
