Tom Owens is an Attorney in private practice who has been involved in the construction industry for over 30 years – 12 as an electrical contractor, the rest as a lawyer. Tom received his law degree from the University of Washington in 1994 and has strong insight into what professional design firms need from counsel.
AIA is a place where the design community can come together to learn from each other and promote the value of design to our world.
I am interested in serving on the AIA Seattle board as public service where my expertise in design business issues can be leveraged. I want to support AIA to be helpful to all size firms, small and large.
I help people understand design professional contracts, changing the language of contract into something more readily accessible by non-lawyers.
I believe that design can save the world by helping us to manage resources sustainably.
I like the newish building just north of Century Link Field, always appreciate when massing breaks up the box in a dramatic way.
Be kind at every opportunity (and when you fail to be kind, be kind to yourself about failing).
