Environmental Works Community Design Center is seeking a temporary full-time or temporary part-time Intern to be a member of our team during the summer months. Hours per week and start and end dates are flexible.
About Us:
Environmental Works is a nonprofit Community Design Center that provides architectural services to low-income and nonprofit clients throughout Washington State. We envision an equitable future that integrates the built and natural environments to support healthy, connected and joyful communities. Our mission is to plan, design and advocate for community-centered environments. Our work includes affordable housing, community facilities, youth and childcare centers, shelters, accessible renovations, public landscapes and similar projects in which social, economic and environmental design are the primary focus.

Responsibilities include:
Assisting other architectural staff on projects; CAD drafting; 3d modeling of project designs; preparation of presentation drawings, permit set drawings and construction drawings; researching architectural materials and systems; preparation of marketing materials; other as needed.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Currently working toward a vocational school degree or Bachelor’s or Master’s degree focused on the built environment.
- Basic understanding of architectural concepts and development.
- Basic understanding of drafting and rendering.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; good people/collaboration skills
- Strong organizational skills
Software program knowledge/capacity desired:
- Microsoft Office suite
- CAD drafting proficiency – Revit knowledge a plus, but not required.
- 3D modeling and rendering skills
- Adobe Suite
Desirable qualities include:
The ideal candidate has a strong interest in and commitment to the mission of Environmental Works; the flexibility to work on a variety of projects as needed; and is self-motivated with a desire to learn in a collaborative atmosphere. Ability to speak multiple languages and/or work-study eligibility are a plus.

- Salary range for this position: $22 hr depending on experience
- PTO – our time off benefit is lumped into one accrual (including sick, vacation, and holiday) and can be used at the employee’s discretion. PTO accrues at a rate of .1 hour of PTO for every hour worked which is equivalent to 5 weeks (208 hours) of PTO per year based on a 40-hour work week.
