We are seeking an experienced energy modeler to lead and manage the delivery of our energy modeling and building performance analysis services. This role is primarily responsible for being the lead of our growing analysis team and managing energy modeling services and code compliance documentation for projects of small to large size and simple to moderate complexity in locations in the Washington State, California, and British Columbia. This role includes writing professional correspondence, assisting clients, leading presentations and workshops while managing and taking responsibility for project billings and budgets.

A working knowledge of building science and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) design fundamentals is desired though aspects will be taught as part of job training to supplement existing knowledge. Professional development courses and industry involvement will be supported to assist with this.

Familiarity with one or more of the modeling protocols for the energy codes in Washington State (including Seattle) C407, California Title 24, or British Columbia Step Code is needed. Willingness to learn codes and protocols for all three regions is encouraged.

The candidate will work closely with project managers on our enclosure consulting projects, as well as provide knowledge sharing and staff mentorship internally.

General Background:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, building science, or architecture. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Licenced Professional Engineer (P.E. or P.Eng) in Washington, California, or British Columbia is preferred.
  • BEMP Certification is desirable but not required.
  • Proficiency in energy modeling software such as eQuest, EnergyPlus, IES VE, or similar software.
  • 4-8 years experience in developing and delivering whole building energy models and consulting with clients on energy services.
  • Familiarity with or desire to learn additional building performance analytic software such as WUFI, WUFI Passive, PHPP, THERM, and other analytic software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to comprehend the scope and process for each project
  • Strong managerial, technical, organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently on a variety of activities

  • Experience collaborating with contractors, architects, and consultants
  • High level of responsibility and diligence
