CAP Collaboration Series: Who Left the Lights On? Measurement & Verification: A Key to Achieving World Class Building Performance with WSP

Join our Corporate Allied Partner WSP for an hour long Continuing Education class on Building Performance.

Course Description

The next great leap in the design of sustainable buildings is measuring and reporting the operational building performance.  Traditionally design teams have ensured buildings are built as designed but have had limited involvement in the operation of a building.  New rating systems, building codes and client contracts are dramatically changing this. This presentation explores the importance of measurement and verification (M&V) in the operation of buildings along with tools and processes used to evaluate building performance.  Additionally, lessons learned from case study buildings will be shared showing the M&V processes undertaken to meet performance goals for these buildings.

Learning Objectives

  • Demonstrate the role of the design team in developing accurate energy performance targets.
  • Explore how operational energy targets and the energy management process are developed and evolve during design and construction.
  • Compare M&V tools and processes used to evaluate building performance.
  • Lessons learned and adjustments made during the M&V process to meet performance goals for case study buildings.
