CAP Collaboration Series: Living Building Challenge Update and Peace Island Medical Center Case Study with Mazzetti
Join our Corporate Allied Partner Mazzetti for an hour long Continuing Education class on the Living Building Challenge and an update on the Peace Island Medical Center.
Course Description
Leslie Jonsson (a Living Building Challenge Ambassador) will lead us through a discussion of the new Living Building Challenge, the petals, example projects from around the world, and strategies required to meet the rigorous demands of this challenge. Mark Stavig will also present Peace Island Medical Center (PIMC) case study, a critical access hospital in the San Juan’s, that followed the precepts of the LBC. He will discuss the challenges this presented and how CDi + Mazzetti (medical engineering firm) supported this effort and lessons learned.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the basic philosophy of the Living Building Challenge and be able to describe the key components of the program.
- Discuss the rationale for restorative design principles.
- Identify and locate the resources provided by the ILFI for deeper engagement.
- Understand the design criteria and decision making required for Critical Access Hospital that followed these precepts early in the design.
