CAP Collaboration Series: LEED v4: it’s finally happening! Find out what architects need to know.
Join our Corporate Allied Partner FSi Consulting Engineers for an hour long Continuing Education class on LEED v4.
Course Description
The USGBC continues to push the building industry towards higher levels of sustainability, and the new version of LEED, LEED v4, reflects this push. For over a year, you’ve been able to choose between submitting projects under LEED 2009 and LEED v4. After a few delays, LEED v4 will become mandatory on November 1, 2016. This new version of LEED offers significant changes in point allocations, focus on different areas of sustainability, and a few new points.
Are you ready to discuss LEED v4 with your clients? How will your projects fare under the new system? We’d like to talk with you about what we’ve learned from using the new rating system, how the new points stack up against the old, and projects that might actually earn more points under LEED v4 than the previous version. We’ll also show some specific energy modeling results, and compare to other green rating standards such as the Washington State Sustainable Schools Protocol (WSSP) and Green Globes, and to Seattle and Washington’s energy codes. Of course, lunch is on us.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will explore the LEED Rating system, outcomes, and priorities.
- Participants will assess changes between LEED 2009 and LEED v4, and how these changes impact different types of projects.
- Participants will understand the Material and Resource changes, product reporting, and applicable products, as well as new credit categories and requirements.
- Participants will explore how different types of projects stack up under the new system, using actual projects as examples.
