- Attendees will learn from the building designers how the form of the building facilitates learning about Nordic cultures and provides a blueprint for investigating Nordic history and community.
- Attendees will learn about the material choices for the building and how they relate back to Nordic culture and resources. From furniture to installation design, the choice of materials is closely intertwined with the building’s mission.
- Attendees will learn from the Museum Curators how the displays and curation are aimed at teaching Nordic culture and community to all ages in different ways. As both a public and educational building, the Museum serves multiple purposes to first-time visitors and members.
- Attendees will learn about the challenges and benefits of building adjacent to the heart of Ballard in a vibrant industrial area which is evolving quickly into a densely populated urban village. Representatives from Mithun & Kirtley-Cole will discuss the project’s site design and zoning challenges, construction systems and material choices as they relate to the context and neighborhood.
