Architectural Education in the 21st Century
The AIA Seattle International Architecture Forum invites you to a lecture by Javier Gómez.
In the last twenty years, a big shift in schools of architecture has happened, moving from critical, theoretical and ontological topics toward an intense pragmatism. While some schools remain grounded within industry demands and accreditation requirements, some more radical schools have moved from critical thinking into cybernetics and software experimentation. In his lecture, using examples of student work, Prof. Gómez will elaborate on these topics.
Originally from Mexico City, Javier Gómez has taught architectural design at institutions in Mexico, Spain, the UK and the US, including the Architectural Association, SCI-Arc and Texas Tech. His professional practice includes work for RoTo, Brooks + Scarpa, Smith Group and Weinstein AU. Mr. Gomez has published and lectured widely and currently resides in Seattle.
