Seattle Architects Travelling Fellowships: Reports from field trips overseas Join the Seattle International Architects Forum and hear participants of architectural travel fellowship report from their trips across the globe!
The Seattle International Architects Forum (SIAF) is a new AIA committee that broadens cross-cultural horizons, provides mentoring and educational opportunities, and inspires awareness of international architectural practice. Seattle Architects Travelling Fellowship is the first event of the series ‘Learning from Abroad’. Each panelist will give an overview of their trips. Following there will be discussion focused on unexpected insights, how the experience impacts their professional work moving forward and most impressionable building/experience.
Panelists:
Yang Liu (SRG) – Four SRG employees spent two weeks visiting Austria, Switzerland and England to study cross-laminated timber applications.
Garrett Reynolds AIA (BCJ – AIA Travel Scholarship) – Garrett traveled to Copenhagen, New York, Stockholm and Tokyo to explore what other growing cities can teach us about living with density.
Marcus Roman AIA (NBBJ) – A group of NBBJ employees spent two weeks in Ho Chu Minh City and Seoul to explore Vietnamese and Korean culture and architecture.
