Diversity by Design
Diversity by Design: Equity in Architecture showcases seven Northwest Regional projects submitted to Diversity Roundtable’s open call to celebrate the work of underrepresented designers. Despite people of color making up 45% of early-career unlicensed designers, only 10% of licensed architects are people of color. Additionally, people of color are only 12% of architects in leadership roles.
This show, which complements the Diversity by Design website, offers an opportunity for underrepresented architects to showcase their work. The selected projects highlight the experience and impact community involvement has on the architect of color, the design of the building, and the community in which the building resides.
Additionally, the projects and project teams featured in Diversity by Design reflect the inclusive spirit that has energized Diversity Roundtable since its origins in 1986. The AIA Diversity Roundtable (DRT) is a group that elevates, inspires, and empowers individuals of underrepresented backgrounds in the profession of architecture through scholarship, community service, and activism.
This exhibit is hosted at the Center for Architecture & Design (by appointment only). RSVP here.
