Calling Climate Advocates: King County Climate Advocacy Action
Climate Advocacy Action is back, and this time we're taking on the King County energy code update. If you live anywhere in King County, sign up to meet with your County Councilmember about sustainability in the built environment.
AIA Seattle’s 2020 Climate Advocacy Week, held in December, featured AIA member meetings with Seattle City Councilmembers to support the city’s strongest-in-Washington energy code update. That code was approved in February and is now effective for commercial and large multifamily buildings.
In 2021, we’re continuing this effort as King County’s Council looks to approve its commercial energy code for unincorporated areas. King County’s proposed code is based closely on but not a copy of the Seattle update. We’ll be holding a kick-off webinar to learn more about King County’s efforts and inviting AIA members to attend a meeting with your King County Councilmember in support of the new code. We’ll give you all the information you need and organize the cohort of members who will meet with your Councilmember. Sign up below to join this important advocacy effort!

Meetings with King County Councilmembers
Sign up to meet with your King County Councilmember about the county’s energy code update legislation.
Meeting dates and times are TBD and timing will be based on your councilmember’s committee assignments (some will see this legislation earlier than others if they serve on the committee that will consider it before it goes to full council). AIA will provide background info and talking points and hold a prep session with all attendees before your meeting.
