Architecture Finance 101 focuses on the fundamental financial responsibilities and considerations associated with project and firm management and the different pathways to build financial skills and acuity. This event includes a diverse group of panelists representing a range of financial experiences and responsibilities. Panelists will present on topics including key performance indicators, firm reinvestment, and the soft skills involved in business finance. Following the panel, participants will participate in small group discussions focused on financial considerations on a firm, project, and employee level. We encourage participation from everyone of any demographic and career stage. The more diverse voices participating, the better discussions we will have.

ANNA LEACH – AIA, NCARB, LEED GREEN ASSOCIATE
Anna is a licensed architect with 10+ years of experience. She is an associate principal at CallisonRTKL in Seattle where she leads project teams to deliver retail environments both nationally and internationally for major and emerging brands, specializing in the implementation of new brand concepts and the creation of scalable prototype designs for roll out. Anna co-founded the Equity Roundtable at CallisonRTKL in late 2017 and worked closely with the AIA Women in Design committee to develop the Conversations Towards an Equitable Practice series for the broader Seattle-based architecture community.
PANELISTS:
Angela Gee – AIA
With over 25 years of architectural experience, Angela Gee’s approach is to lead with compassion, sincerity, and professionalism. Her experience includes a wide and diverse selection of project types in the healthcare, commercial, multi-family, and civic markets. As principal at Dean Alan Architects, Angela provides direct oversight of project management and architectural design services, including hands-on owner’s representative services. Driven to form deep relationships with clients, Angela founded Dean Alan Architects to create a practice focused on advocating for clients and their goals.
John DeForest – AIA
A native Seattleite, John DeForest received architectural degrees from Yale and from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design. After working with firms in New England, San Francisco, and Seattle, John founded DeForest Architects with a vision of developing a more collaborative, client-inspired approach to design.
Nicole Demers-Changelo – RA
Nicole Demers-Changelo (Nikki) is an architect for [&] Architecture, a designated real estate broker for [&] Real Estate and a general contractor and co-owner of [&] Build. Nikki founded the parent company Andition to enable a cohesive homeowner experience through top-notch project management services and technology. Nikki also advocates for the built environment & preservation matters as a Board of Trustee for the Queen Anne Historical Society and as a committee member of Uptown Alliance. She received a Bachelor of Architecture from the School of Architecture at Syracuse University.
Daniel L. Miles – AIA
Daniel L. Miles AIA is a Principal at Bassetti Architects. Dan joined the firm in 2010 and quickly rose to the role of Principal in 2013. He is currently the Managing Principal for the 80-person firm with offices in Seattle and Portland. He has extensive experience in the planning, design, and construction of public and private educational facilities, religious institutions, historic buildings, and recreational facilities. Dan is passionate about historic architecture, especially adaptive re-use of historic structures. Prior to joining Bassetti, Dan was a partner in a small firm for nine years responsible for operations and finance.
Genevieve Theriault – AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C
Genevieve is a licensed architect with 15 years of experience. She is a Principal at Johnston Architects and oversees a variety of architectural & interior design projects including workplace design, multi-family amenity design, and single family residential. She recently became the manager of the Interior Design studio and is responsible for establishing budgets and tracking project fee health for the studio. On an office-wide level, she works with project managers to input, adjust, and review project budgets in the fee management software.
Jenny Trieu – CPA/CMA
Jenny Trieu is the Finance Manager for Seattle based design firm TEAGUE. For over a decade, she has led or worked on financial teams that serve as catalysts for groundbreaking projects with some of the largest companies in the world. Before joining TEAGUE, Jenny was a Senior Financial Analyst at CallisonRTKL charged with financial analysis and modeling, and risk mitigation strategies. Jenny has carved out an expertise in communicating financial performance and corporate goals to architects and designers to enhance organization wide performance.
