Mass Timber: Towards A Biogenic City
The Pacific Northwest has productive regional forests that have the potential to yield an array of social, environmental and economic benefits. This plant-based building material also has tectonic and biophilic properties that presents designers with unique new building products such as mass timber.
Yet despite this Seattle has, paradoxically, lagged other cities and regions in the US and other parts of the world in terms of embracing this opportunity. How can the Seattle design community help foster a regenerative, biogenic city?
Join us for a symposium exploring the potential mass timber through the insights of our three guest speakers :
- Iain MacDonald, Director, Tallwood Institute
- Ben Kaiser, Founding Partner, Path Development
- Alan Organschi, Principal, Gray Organschi Architecture
