Why did you join AIA Seattle?

Berntson Porter enjoys a thriving Professional Services practice with many A & E clients. Our top priority is to care for our clients by providing exceptional service and keeping ourselves aware of contemporary issues and opportunities for them. The AIA keeps us in-the-know regarding news, updates and changes within the architectural and design build environment.

What is the value of AIA to you?

Partnership with the AIA provides Berntson Porter learning opportunities and networking that sharpen our skills and perspective – increasing the value we bring to our clients.

How do you explain what you do for a living?

Being a tax accountant is not only a job, it’s a passion. You can’t thrive doing something unless you are passionate about it.

What inspired you today?

If there is one thing I can’t get enough of, it’s ambition. When I read about people who are overflowing with ambition, it gets me excited and inspired. Especially those who have many achievements already but continue to push for more.

What do you hope to contribute from your work?

Aside from serving our clients, I would like to help make the workplace more diverse. Creating such a environment is one of the biggest challenges organizations face today. BP is committed inclusion and diversity – getting employees aligned with the firm vision, caring about it and actually having fun working towards this goal. It is a huge undertaking, which is why the responsibility can’t just rest on executive’s shoulder. We’ve dedicated a special task force to this mission called our Community Leadership Group.

What is your favorite Seattle-area structure?
