Sanctuary Exhibit Tour w/ Graphic Art Curator, Cleo Barnett
Meet us at the Center for a curatorial tour of Sanctuary: Design for Belonging by our Graphic Art Curator, Cleo Barnett.
During this hour-long tour, Cleo will discuss the overall theme of the exhibit, explaining the competition winners’ projects and how they make cities more welcoming to immigrants and refugees. Cleo will also walk through the design and social innovation behind protest posters, discussing in-depth the behind-the-scenes process of how some of the artwork featured in this exhibition artwork came to be, the way the artwork lives in the world, and the power within public art to shift culture.

ABOUT CLEO:
Cleo Barnett is a New Zealand born curator, strategist, and experience designer. Currently based in the United States, her practice explores the relationship between public art, storytelling, and community liberation grounded in sustainability. Since the age of 18, Cleo’s work at the intersections of art and cultural organizing has taken her around the world, curating and producing exhibitions, festivals, and placemaking activations internationally. Since 2015 Cleo has been a core part of the Amplifier team, a non-profit organization which builds visual media experiments to amplify the voices of social movements. As the Deputy Director, Cleo co-produces and co-creative directs multiple global public art campaigns including the iconic We The People Campaign, Women’s March on Washington, and March For Our Lives.
