Code Evolutions: 2015 Seattle Residential Code – Substantial Alterations
This session will focus on the 2015 Seattle Residential Code, Section R107.9 Substantial alterations or repairs. Richard Pellinger, from Seattle DCI, will guide participants through the Department’s existing building plan review philosophy, in addition to application of the substantial alterations definitions and requirements.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Participants will become familiar with SDCI’s existing building philosophy for projects under the scope of the Seattle Residential Code.
- Participants will be able to describe each of the substantial alterations definitions and identify candidate projects.
- Participants will be able to understand required improvements and apply them to their residential projects accordingly.
- Participants will become familiar with recent SDCI policy clarifications regarding definition #2 and Section R311 Means of Egress requirements.
