How Carbon Pricing Will Affect the Building Industry

With the UN’s recent Paris Climate Agreement, Washington State’s proposed rules under the Clean Air Act, and an initiative on the November ballot, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reduction is a significant topic affecting society. 2016 is shaping up to be a pivotal year in combating climate change, and architects have the opportunity through their design and advocacy to realize positive change.
Co-presented with the Seattle 2030 District, join us for a panel discussion about different mechanisms to put a price to carbon emissions – a change which could redefine the economic feasibility of GHG reductions and sustainability strategies in buildings. Learn how current proposals address – or do not address – building-level strategies and what architects can do to advocate for the role buildings can play in reducing GHG emissions.
The discussion will include perspectives from Carbon Washington, Michael Mann of Cyan Strategies, and more. Brad Boswell, AIA Washington Council’s lobbyist, will moderate.
