Accessibility Webinar: Stepping Thru Existing Buildings

Join AIA Long Beach | South Bay for an online ADA seminar that satisfies the required coursework on Disability Access Requirements.

The nature of our practice has changed with a higher proportion of renovation and re-use. The ADA Standards has differing requirements for alterations than new construction and since these are federal laws, only limited direction can come from local building officials. Criteria for existing structures will be provided in a scoping sense to have a better understanding of the implications of not only what applies but how it applies. Learn in a real world sense the differences between Program Accommodation and Barrier Removal, Public buildings and Places of Public Accommodation, Proportional Spending, Safe Harbor, and Path of Travel obligations.
