POSTPONED - Mass Timber – Yakama Nation Forest Tour

Join the Mass Timber Committee for an all day tour of Yakama forests near White Swan, WA. The tour will be led by Yakama Nation Tribal Forestry Staff.

Unfortunately we need to postpone the 6/28 Yakama Forestry Tour, because there is a significant wildfire in White Swan, WA that started on 6/22. We are hoping to reschedule the tour for this fall. We will send out a new date soon.

Learning objectives:

Please join us for a tour of the Yakama Nation Forests near White Swan, WA. The tour will consist of visits to a series of sites within forests managed by the Yakama Nation and will discuss elements of the Forest Management Plan related to sustainability and responsible sourcing for timber and other forest products. The program’s goal is to manage the forest for current and future generations. This includes goals for cultural/historic + water quality + forest health + fisheries/wildlife + old growth + revenue/employment. The program also wants to increase the fire resiliency of the forest ecosystems with a variety of tools including thinning forests and strategic fire burns.
