2026 Code Series | Safety Matters

Safety Matters Code session - orange graphic with colorful texture blocks

This is the second session in the 2026 Code Matters Series presented by AIA Seattle’s Code Committee.

Safety Matters is a two-day virtual training that provides an overview of health and safety principles as they apply to the practices of design and construction.

This seminar introduces design professionals to key WISHA (Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act) requirements that affect building design and construction practices. It highlights how worker‑safety rules influence access to systems, temporary structures, dust control, and hazardous materials management—areas not typically addressed in building or accessibility codes. The session also provides brief context on how WISHA aligns with and differs from federal OSHA standards. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of safety regulations that shape worksite planning and coordination during construction.

Join us online May 12-13, 12:00 – 2:00 pm PT both days for 2026 Code Series: Safety Matters (4 LU/HSW).

This is a 2-day program. Participants must attend the live webinars both days in order to receive continuing education credit or a certificate of completion. No partial credit will be awarded. All registration and credit questions can be directed to Pamela Tagata.
