Code Reload | Elevator Best Practices

This two hour program focuses on elevator technology and design aspects of planning and evaluating elevator systems for all types of buildings. Design, code and “best practice” guidelines are reviewed to enable architects, developers, engineers, and planners to understand vertical transportation impact on the design and construction of a building.

Speakers

Carl Cary began working for Lerch Bates in 2015. He is currently working in the Lerch Bates Pacific Northwest Office providing elevator consulting services for new equipment design, modernization work, maintenance audit work, and due diligence services. Previously, Mr. Cary worked for KONE Inc. and ThyssenKrupp as the Senior Sales Engineer, responsible for all large project new equipment business in the Northwest Region of the U.S.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain an overview of existing and emerging elevator application technologies and their impact on current architectural design practice.
  • Gain an overview of the MRL traction elevator technology including the design implications, environmental impact, and structural and electrical considerations.
  • Understand how to select appropriate elevators system design developed for a specific application.
  • Understand common code issues that affect vertical transportation planning.
