Who we are

Studio Matthews is a Seattle-based practice of designers, teachers, and makers who collaborate worldwide. We work across a range of disciplines, from branding, identity, and print to installations, exhibitions, and environmental graphic design. Projects that strengthen human relationships and build community are particularly exciting to us.

Our work begins by looking beyond the edges of a brief for unseen potential. As advocates and partners, we help our clients see what their projects couldbe. Together, we work to uncover deeper relationships between a project, its context, and those who encounter it.

As responsible practitioners, we believe good design is sustainable and that in fact, designing sustainably pushes us to create more inventive work. We teach our students to consider design as an opportunity to achieve many ends at once, from waste and energy reduction to resource awareness and delight.

Our mission is to create meaningful experiences that resonate on a human scale. We want those who encounter our projects to feel inspired—to linger, explore, and contribute their voices. As designers, we want to help people engage with the world and each other in a new way.
