Ashley Zaworska Architecture

AZA is a Seattle-based residential architecture firm that creates inspired spaces through deep collaboration and open communication at every step of the design process.  Our designs honor the integrity of materials, embrace natural light, and layer depth through texture and attention to detail.

We are currently on a growth path from a one-woman practice to a multidisciplinary firm.  This is an opportunity to get involved on the ground floor, serving as Ashley’s right-hand support on architectural projects.

We believe the best work comes from an overflowing cup, and strongly value work/life balance and personal well being.  This position will be paid hourly with the expectation of a 30-hour, 4-day workweek.  At times project work may require deadline-based sprints, but we prefer to plan in advance to ensure this is not the case.

We are currently splitting our time among in-person coworking, working from home, and in-person client meetings.  AZA is building out a shared office space just north of Columbia City in Seattle, with expected completion by the end of 2021.  Upon completion of the office, we will strive to create a flexible remote and in-person work arrangement that accounts for how you work best.  Our collaborative process will require regular in-person design meetings.  Proof of vaccination will be required to work in-office and attend client meetings.  We will continue to monitor public health information to make the best decisions for the safety of our staff.

  • Project support from schematic design and design development through permitting and construction administration.  You will be expected to follow instructions from senior staff and ask questions as necessary
  • Prepare 2D and 3D presentation, permit, and construction drawings
  • Participate in client meetings and design presentations
  • Contribute to the overall culture and success of AZA
  • Light administrative work, until AZA is staffed with dedicated admin support

  • 2+ years in residential architecture with a high-end, custom residential focus.  At least 1 year working directly on permit and construction drawing sets.
  • Fluency in AutoCAD, Sketchup + Enscape (or similar), Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and MS Office.  Strong free-hand drawing and general computer skills are a plus.
  • Refined visual presentation skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication
  • A flexible, positive attitude and the ability to process change (positive or negative) calmly and effectively
  • Ability to form deep, trusting relationships with clients, teammates, and project partners (engineers, contractors, vendors, etc)
  • Excellent time management skills with an ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Self motivation and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Confidence to both ask for help and research project solutions independently, as needed.

  • Step into greater leadership roles or pivot into newer ventures as our firm grows
  • Build upon our existing aesthetic and thoughtfully contribute your creative vision
  • Gain hands-on, client-facing experience at all levels of project design and construction
  • Collaborate on custom product design (lighting, furniture, etc)

  • Compensation is commensurate with experience
  • Paid vacation and holidays
  • Healthcare stipend, with the expectation of an AZA sponsored health insurance plan in the future
  • End of year profit sharing
