Environmental Works Community Design Center

Environmental Works Community Design Center is seeking a part-time (+/- 20hrs per week) Accountant to be a member of our team with opportunities for growth within our non-profit organization.

The person in this position will be part of the Finance and Operations team that directly reports to the Executive Director.  This position requires the ability to multitask and collaborate well with a variety of people at all levels. A successful candidate would be able to communicate & support staff in their financial understanding of project performance in a way that non-accounting staff can understand while ensuring data integrity of the accounting system. This person will have a contextual understanding as to how activities integrate with financial reporting in order to successfully comply to regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Project Setup/Maintenance

  • Work with the Project Managers to set up projects, phases, extra service agreements, and invoice templates according to the contracts.
  • Ensures all contracts and extra service agreements are filed.
  • Reviews and locks down approved budgets.  Maintains oversight of the integrity of the data
  • Update Billing schedules
  • Close projects upon completion

Project Billing

  • Approve timesheet and expense reports related to projects
  • Process vendor and Subconsultant invoices, Request W-9, Provide backup documentation at clients request
  • Manage insurance certificates for vendors
  • Manage WIP according to revenue recognition policies
  • Responsible for efficient and timely Billing process
  • Be able to consistently meet deadlines
  • Monitor, research and resolve any billing inquiries/issues from PM’s and external clients
  • Ensures accurate project data through regular reviews & maintenance tasks
  • Approve Consultant invoices for payment

Project Reporting

  • Reviews and analyses financial data with PM to deliver successful financial results
    Attend Operation Meetings
  • Discuss the approval of large write offs with the Executive Director
  • Report  B&O Tax liability to Controller

Accounts Receivable

  • Manage the accounts receivable process to maintain positive project cashflow.  Monitor and resolve any issues. Work with PM’s to communicate effectively with clients in order to collect outstanding AR.

Other duties/tasks as requested. Cross Train & or Backup

  • Reconcile Credit Card and Bank Accounts
  • Insurance Renewals/Certificates
  • AR/AP
  • Analysis of data
  • Audit supports

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 

  • Accounting Degree or equivalent work-related experience
  • 5+ years in accrual-based accounting with A/E/C industry- Non-Profit a Plus
  • The ability to coordinate with multiple staff and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • The ability to be a self-starter with minimal Director oversight
  • Detail-oriented, able to prioritize and perform various tasks in an accurate & timely manner
  • Records financial transactions in accordance to GAAP and ensures audit quality documentation
  • Uphold required compliances.
  • Strong analytical skills

SOFTWARE PROGRAM KNOWLEDGE: 

  • Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with Deltek Ajera system a plus

  • Salary range for this position: $35-40 hour depending on experience
