The Project Manager (PM) is essential to the completion of firm projects, coordinating all aspects to ensure a project stays on schedule, on budget, and fulfills key goals. This is an active internal and client facing position. PMs are the primary liaison between the client, the Principal-In-Charge, the Project Architect, and relevant teams. Both project management and aiding collaborative design solutions are necessary in a successful PM role. Key responsibilities include regular communications with team members to ensure projects progress well, issues are addressed as they arise in a timely manner, and risks are mitigated.

At Bassetti, PMs are leaders and mentors, positioned as a resource for the team. The PM cultivates and maintains excellent client relationships. Networking in a professional and competent way, as a representative of the firm is essential. The PM is also involved in work acquisition through their participation in proposals, interviews, or by attending/speaking at conferences. The PM is up to date on project and marketing opportunities, construction cost directions, and industry trends. An active social role, motivated individuals with an interest in facilitating the creation of influential aspects of the built environment will thrive in the PM position.

Primary Responsibilities:

Scheduling

  • Create, regularly update, and manage the project schedule and work plan to ensure that the team meets all milestones and project delivery dates.
  • Schedule and facilitate internal weekly team meetings.
  • Schedule and participate in the QA/QC of the project
    • Administers QC Plan.
    • Maintain project schedule and establishes document review times and durations.
    • Set aside budgets for the required QC reviews throughout the project
  • Schedule and facilitate Owner/Architect meetings and other critical project meetings.

Budget Management

  • Track project budget and verify design aligns with the construction cost.
  • Manage staffing and fee for the scope of work, review and oversee distribution of client invoices on a monthly basis.
  • Manage project program and ensure alignment with the project budget.
  • Ensure most efficient and cost-effective execution of project.
  • Prepare fee proposals and additional service proposals as required.
  • Review contracts and participate in contract negotiation with Principal.

Documentation

  • Oversee Construction Contract Administration process and other documentation in collaboration with Project Architect.
  • Awareness of main project issues, design options, and technical decisions.
  • Manage consultant contracts and performance.

Client Relations

  • Coordinate with client and consultants.
  • Manage overall project communication.
  • Professionally represent the firm to clients and maintain client satisfaction.

Qualification/Skills/Experience Required

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent years of experience under a licensed Architect’s supervision.
  • Knowledgeable about contracts and contract negotiation.
  • Previous experience as Project Architect or Design Staff or several projects of various scale and complexities.
  • Flexible, problem-solver, and collaborative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Effective presentation and marketing skills.
  • Able to manage tasks for several projects running in parallel.
  • Knowledge of Excel and or Smartsheet helpful but not required.
