Job Description

The BIM Manager / Desktop Support Technician position is responsible for maintaining the BIM environment as well as the software and hardware of workstations at ALSC Architects. When not performing these primary duties, they will be available for project work. This position reports to both the Director of Technical Design (DoTD) and the Director of Operations (DoO).

BIM Manager Responsibilities (DoTD)

  • Coordinate development and implementation of BIM strategies and standards
  • Create and maintain documentation of BIM standards and guidelines, including LOD
  • Create and maintain Revit content, including templates and families, in alignment with company goals and project specific requirements
  • Provide training and support to users, reinforcing the proper implementation of BIM strategies and content development
  • Coordinate testing of new versions of Revit and plug-ins prior to deployment
  • Evaluate Revit plug-ins and add-ons for possible use
  • Troubleshoot issues on Revit models
  • Advise the Director of Technical Design on implementation of BIM execution plan

Desktop Support Responsibilities (DoO)

  • Build and maintain computer workstations, checkout laptops, and tablets
  • Test and deploy new desktop software and software upgrades as required, including Autodesk products, Bluebeam, Newforma, SketchUp, etc
  • Provide day to day support for users on desktop software questions and issues
  • Maintain projects and user permissions in the Sharefile and BIM 360 environments
  • Assist in the development of new workstation specifications
  • Provide additional levels of IT support when the Director of Operations is on vacation
  • Advise the Director of Operations on future software, hardware, and other technology needs

Technical Designer Responsibilities

  • Prepares and modifies architectural documents at the direction of the project designer or more senior design professionals, ensuring alignment with design intent and firm standards
  • Prepares 2D and 3D design materials for client/project team review


  • Five+ years production experience in architectural design or drafting using Autodesk Revit
  • Strong understanding of BIM LOD and AIA G202-2013 strongly preferred
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Windows PC experience with desktop management skills strongly preferred
  • Possess the ability to work well both as a team member and independently
