Suyama Peterson Deguchi

Founded by George Suyama in 1971, Suyama Peterson Deguchi (SPD) is an architecture firm based in Seattle, Washington. Led by three partners, the firm specializes in Northwest Contemporary design and offers a comprehensive range of services from architecture to interiors and furniture design. The hallmarks of our internationally published work are the mastery of scale and proportion, sophisticated detailing, and a restrained material palette. Our pursuit of timeless and elegant design is recognized by numerous awards and establishes our reputation as one of the leading architecture firms in the Pacific Northwest. SPD’s projects range from prized private residences to experimental retail boutiques, galleries, cultural spaces, and civic buildings in locations such as Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California and Japan.

Our Belltown studio houses architectural offices for our professional staff of thirteen, as well as Suyama Space, a renowned art installation gallery, and 3×10 [Three by Ten], our furniture and accessory showroom.

As architects we strive for timeless designs inspired by ideas that transcend style and trends by addressing the specifics of each site, program and client. We believe that design should not begin with a preconceived idea or style but should flow naturally from a thorough investigation and understanding of each project’s unique challenges. This philosophy ensures that each design will suit the specific needs of each client. By determining the essence of each site and project we create timeless architecture of lasting value.
