AIA Disaster Assistance Program Building Evaluator Training
AIA Disaster Assistance Program utilizes volunteers and mutual aid resources to provide professional engineers, architects and certified building inspectors to assist local governments by doing post-disaster building evaluations. The training program for Building Evaluators is currently managed by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) with cooperation from professional organizations. CalOES will issue Disaster Service Worker (DSW) ID cards to all professionally licensed volunteers who have completed the training. Those who are not yet licensed will receive a certificate…

Tour of King County Emergency Coordination Center w/ Disaster Preparedness & Response
King County’s Kent Pullen Regional Communications and Emergency Coordination Center is an essential facility designed to remain in operation during disaster recovery. It contains the King County Sheriff’s 911 Center and the County’s Office of Emergency Management, including the Emergency Operations Center. Completed in 2003, the center was designed by Hewitt Architects with Ross Drulis Cusenbery Architecture.
