Washington State Clean Buildings Act 101
Washington State passed the Clean Buildings Act in 2019 with the goal of reducing energy consumption, operating cost, and carbon emissions from existing buildings which account for 27% of emissions statewide. Within the bill, the Clean Buildings Performance Standard sets energy performance targets for various building types, which go into effect beginning in 2026.
