Road to Code | Significant Changes to the ICC/ANSI A117.1 – 2017
This is the third session in the 2022 Road to Code series presented by AIA Seattle’s Code Committee. Approximately every 6 years, ICC publishes updates for the ICC A117.1 Accessibility Standard. The latest 2017 version contains significant changes to the basic building blocks used in accessible spaces. Washington State Clean Buildings Act 101
Washington State passed the Clean Buildings Act in 2019 with the goal of reducing energy consumption, operating cost, and carbon emissions from existing buildings which account for 27% of emissions statewide. Within the bill, the Clean Buildings Performance Standard sets energy performance targets for various building types, which go into effect beginning in 2026.
