Resident's Podium for Seattle Legacy Spaces

Hosted By Ghosts of Seattle Past
With Seattle City Council Member Lisa Herbold
@ the Center

Seattle residents, artists, and community organizers will testify about the places they want preserved.

Meanwhile city officials, landlords, real estate developers, policy makers and other community members are invited to come together to listen and learn from these voices across our city.  Through better collective understanding of the historic businesses and gathering spaces that knit together our current urban fabric, we can determine how to design the most collaborative, inclusive and considered version of Seattle, conceived by the many.

This is in conjunction with our current exhibit BOOM: Changing Seattle @ the Center, through August 27.

The Ghosts of Seattle Past is an atlas of our memories, a collaborative map of places loved and missed in a rapidly evolving city. In this interactive art installation curated by author/editor Jaimee Garbacik, storytelling and cartography preserve the venues, restaurants, shops and institutions we’ve lost to development in Seattle, the city of the future. The Ghosts of Seattle Past anthology (Chin Music Press, 2017) is a collection of essays, community member interviews, art, comics, photography, and hand-drawn maps commemorating our beloved former gathering places (maps by Joshua Powell, design by Jon Horn). www.SeattleGhosts.com
