How can you impact their passage? What’s next for climate policy in Washington? Join AIA’s Kirsten Smith, manager of policy and advocacy, and Amy Wheeless, policy consultant at the Northwest Energy Coalition, as they bring news from the front lines at the state capitol.

Speakers
Amy Wheeless is a policy consultant at the Northwest Energy Coalition, where she advocates for energy efficiency policies and programs at the state and local levels. Prior to joining the coalition, Amy worked as a consultant on various environmental and energy issues for utilities, governmental agencies and nonprofits. She is also a co-chair of Shift Zero, a zero net carbon building alliance, which is active in advocating for zero net carbon policies in Olympia and throughout Washington.

Kirsten Smith is the policy and advocacy manager for AIA Washington Council and AIA Seattle. She is responsible for AIA’s state-level advocacy efforts as well as local government policies in Seattle, focusing on issues that impact architects including climate and sustainability, practice issues, housing, city design, transportation, codes and more. Kirsten is a member of the Shift Zero Steering Committee. She has spent 20 years working in government affairs and has been at AIA since 2017.
