CAE: South Seattle College Tour
South Seattle College is located within one of the most diversified areas of Seattle. Communication and caring are foundational elements of community, success, and a civic mindset. On this tour, we’ll visit three new facilities that affirm the College’s values of inclusion, access, community enrichment, and exemplary learning.
By leveraging overlapping program needs and equipping common spaces with technology and flexible furnishings, Cascade Hall (aka the Integrated Education Center) unites the seemingly disparate Health Sciences and Basic Skills/ESL programs and promotes interactive learning and socialization.
The fully upgraded and expanded Automotive Technology Building has been reimagined to bring in light, create open and collaborative spaces, and provide a safe, modern teaching environment with an improved connection to campus. The fully renovated building and new 14,000 square foot addition provide modern shops, flexible classrooms, informal learning spaces and a new entrance.
In 2015, the student government successfully campaigned for student-funded campus improvements, including the Student Wellness Center; student participation in the design process ensured that the facility is a place where all are welcome to socialize, relax, exercise, and integrate wellness into their routines.
This live, in-person program is presented by AIA Seattle’s Committee on Architecture for Education.
