Small Practice and Residential Committee (SPARC)

The Small Practice And Residential Committee (SPARC) supports professional & business development, leadership and growth for the many members of small practices and those practices engaged primarily in the execution of residential commissions. We represent this group of professionals within the AIA and the community – working to support professional development, elevate awareness of their work and to celebrate their contribution to the built environment.

SPARC’s three areas of focus include the following:
Business development – including development of online features, exhibits, publications and seminars focused on residential work.
Professional development – including the semi-annual residential design forum and other continuing education opportunities relevant to small offices and to residential designers
Advocacy – both for particular concerns of the small practice within the AIA itself and in support of AIA initiatives within the community, such as zoning and housing policy.

How to get involved

SPARC typically meets the third Thursday of every month, from noon until approximately 1:30 P.M. We have been meeting via Zoom since March 2020, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
