Why did you join AIA Seattle?

To broaden my professional perspective, to meet other Architects and discuss issues of importance to the profession. And to get access to high quality CE programs.

What project are you working on now?

Highline High School, a 225,000 SF rebuild of the original High School in Burien, WA.

How do you explain what you do for a living?

We design and document buildings to maintain and hopefully improve the built environment.

What inspired you today?

My colleagues, who every day bring thoughtful connections to current design explorations.

Where is the field of architecture, engineering or construction headed?

Toward even more systemization and pre-fabrication for larger projects, towards net positive building energy consumption, and more recycled building material content.

Can design save the world?

No, but it can certainly make the world a more (or less) pleasant place to be.

What is your favorite Seattle-area structure?

Chapel of St. Ignatius by Steven Holl. Just a beautiful little building.

If you could sum up your outlook on life in a bumper sticker, what would it say?

Be Present.
