On December 8, a festive crowd gathered to celebrate the Grand ReOpening of the newly-remodeled HQ at 1991 First Avenue, to congratulating the project team, and observe the holiday season. An estimated crowd of 150 or more gave positive reviews, and helped fully occupy the 1960 square feet of the AIA Seattle streetfront space in Seattle's Pike Place Market historic district, where AIA Seattle has resided since 1981.
On Friday 11/19, the AIA Seattle office began the process of relocating back to newly-remodeled HQ at 1911 First Avenue, from our temporary quarters in Belltown as guests of Arai Jackson Ellison Murakami. During an extended Thanksgiving break, staff undertook to reconnect various systems and to resume regular functions. Until December 8, the AIA Seattle office operated behind closed doors, providing services over the AIA Seattle web site and accessible by phone:
·event registration
·contract documents purchases, and
·staff contacts by e-mail or voice messaging
We thank AIA Seattle Members and other visitors and customers for their patience, and look forward to celebrating the new space, the season, and recipients of AIA Seattle 2004 HONOR AWARDS for WASHINGTON ARCHITECTURE at the GRAND ReOPENING/HOLIDAY PARTY on Wednesday 12/8.
We hope many of you have tuned in to the ongoing saga of "1911 (First Avenue): A Space Oddity," the redesign undertaken by the AIA Seattle Young Architects Forum, with key allies and contributors from the design and construction community.
Effective June 30, the AIA Seattle premises at 1911 First Avenue closed for construction on the remodel. Beginning after Independence Day, the AIA Seattle staff and computers resumed regular functions at 2300 7th Avenue (at Bell Street) – where our colleagues at Arai Jackson Ellison Murakami hosted office functions as well as committee meetings and other ongoing functions.
We appreciate the ingenuity and generosity of all who have had a part in making the new space happen, and have many to thank as well for their patience during this interim of unavoidable disruption and positive expectation!
