2009 AIA Seattle Honor Award
The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) has announced 2003 recipients of national honors from ASLA – including revered Northwest design entities.
The ASLA Firm Award, this year given for the first time, honors Jones & Jones Architects and Landscape Architects of Seattle. The award recognizes the production of "bodies of distinguished work influencing the professional practice of landscape architecture for a sustained period." Signature projects cited include projects in Seattle, throughout the Northwest, and elsewhere around the world, much honored by civic and professional groups including the AIA.
Richard Haag FASLA, Hon. AIA will receive the ASLA Medal for 2003 - the highest honor the ASLA may bestow upon a landscape architect "whose lifetime achievements and contributions to the profession have had a unique and lasting impact on the welfare of the public and the environment."
His Seattle colleagues admire Rich not only for his magnificent designs including Gas Works Park and the Bloedel Reserve and his imprimatur on generations of design professionals through teaching and academic leadership as a founder of the landscape architecture programs at the University of Washington College of Architecture and Urban Planning, but for decades of civic engagement alongside architects and fellow citizens.
ASLA will present these and other awards at the ASLA Annual Meeting, October 30-November 3 in New Orleans.
